Madrid, 1 June 2016.- Mahou San Miguel, a 100% Spanish-owned family brewer that is leader in the sector in Spain, had an operating profit of 187.4 million euros in 2015, 11.5% more than in 2014, and registered its best turnover figure in the last five years: 1,177.5 million euros, up 2.1% on the previous year. Its sales volume increased by 3.2%, to 15.5 million hectolitres, of which 13.3 correspond to beer, and 2.2 to water and soft drinks.

These data consolidate the trend begun in 2014: Mahou San Miguel has increased its turnover and profitability for the second year in a row and recorded growth in all its business lines. Specifically, the business in Spain grew by 1.1% in net sales, and the international business by 5.5%, water and soft drinks by 16.3% and logistical services by 10.8%.

Extension of the international footprint

Outside Spain, Mahou San Miguel increased its business by 5.5% on the previous year, closing the year at 79 million euros with more than 2 million hectolitres sold, accounting for 15% of the company's total volume of beer. These figures confirm the sound trend in a business that has grown by over 50% in the last four years.

Of particular note in Mahou San Miguel's international expansion has been the purchase of 30% of the North American microbrewer Founders, which has bolstered its presence in a booming segment, and its growing consolidation in the Indian market, where it has had a subsidiary since 2014.
